Luka Modric to retire after 2026 World Cup

Croatian midfielder AC Milan star Luka Modric is preparing for the end of his professional career. According to journalist Nicolo Schira, the 40-year-old is expected to announce his retirement following the 2026 World Cup.

The tournament, which will be hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, is set to be the final chapter for the veteran playmaker. The competition is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

Throughout the current season, Modric has remained a regular feature for his club, appearing in 37 matches across all competitions. During this time, he has contributed two goals and three assists.
