Liga MX reschedules five Matchday 7 games due to Leagues Cup
Due to the participation of four Mexican clubs in the Leagues Cup 2026 finals, five matches of the Apertura Matchday 7 have been postponed.
The participation of América, Monterrey, Toluca, and León in the final phase of the 2026 Leagues Cup has forced significant changes to the Mexican championship schedule. Because these clubs are competing in the tournament's final and third-place matches, it is impossible to play the full program of Matchday 7 of the Apertura tournament.
Of the nine originally scheduled games, only five will take place between Friday, September 4, and Sunday, September 6. The remaining matches have been moved to later dates to accommodate the international commitments of the involved teams.
Notable schedule changes include Puebla vs. Toluca, now set for September 15, and Querétaro vs. Monterrey, which has been pushed to November 14. Additionally, América's clash against Tijuana is rescheduled for October 28, while the Pumas vs. León match is moved to September 10. Due to the tight turnaround, the Matchday 8 fixture for León against Atlético de San Luis has also been delayed to September 14.
Fans can still look forward to five games this weekend, including Juárez vs. Pachuca, Atlético San Luis vs. Chivas, Tigres vs. Necaxa, Atlas vs. Atlante, and Cruz Azul vs. Santos.
