Kvaratskhelia proud of George Best comparisons following Ballon d'Or nod

Paris Saint-Germain star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has opened up about the significance of his nomination for the Ballon d'Or. The 25-year-old winger, who was instrumental in his club's recent success, is among the 30-man shortlist for the prestigious award, with the winner set to be announced on October 26.

Having been named the Champions League Player of the Season for the 2025-26 campaign, Kvaratskhelia is now firmly established among the sport's elite. Reflecting on the nomination, he stated: "To be a Ballon d'Or contender, it's already a pleasure to be among these players. I'm happy that I represent Georgia, a small country. Little kids, they know that even if they are from a small country, they can achieve these things."

Ahead of Georgia's Nations League fixture against Northern Ireland, the winger has faced inevitable comparisons to Manchester United icon George Best. Kvaratskhelia admitted that being mentioned alongside the Belfast Boy is an honor he takes seriously.
