Keely Hodgkinson takes silver at World Athletics Ultimate Championship

Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson settled for silver in a hotly anticipated women’s 800m final at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest. The British athlete clocked 1:56.26, finishing just behind Swiss rival Audrey Werro, who secured the title with a time of 1:55.88.
The race highlighted the intense rivalry in the event, with Werro surging into an early lead and successfully holding off a late charge from Hodgkinson. Broeders-Bol rounded out the podium, finishing 0.48 seconds behind the Briton.
For Hodgkinson, the result adds to a demanding 2026 season where she has already claimed Commonwealth and European golds. Despite the second-place finish, her consistency at the elite level remains a standout storyline in the sport.
In other action, Georgia Hunter Bell took silver in the 1500m final, narrowly missing out to Poland's Diamond League champion Klaudia Kazimierska. Meanwhile, in the 400m final, Matt Hudson-Smith finished fifth as Botswana's Collen Kebinatshipi claimed victory in a national record time of 43.39 seconds.
