Former Pescara captain and Italian coach Andrea Camplone is currently in intensive care after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest while playing padel. The incident occurred at a sports complex in Montesilvano around 6:30 PM, when the 58-year-old suddenly lost consciousness.
A doctor present at the venue immediately provided first aid before emergency crews arrived and utilized a mechanical chest compression device. After being intubated on site, Camplone was rushed to the Spirito Santo Civil Hospital in Pescara.
Medical authorities confirmed that Camplone successfully underwent an emergency procedure overnight, which has left his condition stable. Doctors are maintaining a reserved prognosis due to his history of cardiovascular complications, and he remains under continuous monitoring by medical staff.
Camplone is a celebrated figure in Italian football. He captained Pescara to two Serie A promotions in 1987 and 1992 under Giovanni Galeone. His career later saw him reach the top flight as a player with Perugia, a club he eventually managed to the 2013-14 Serie C title. His managerial path also included spells at Virtus Lanciano, Benevento, Bari, Cesena, and Catania.
