Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez held an early-morning meeting with manager Diego Simeone at the Majadahonda training facility on Wednesday. The conversation, which took place before the squad's training session, was described as direct and professional.
The discussion follows the striker's recent public admission regarding his desire to leave the club. Alvarez had previously stated that he had spoken with the necessary people at the club and felt a move was the best path forward for his career.
However, Simeone reiterated the club's consistent stance that Alvarez is not for sale. The manager remains fully aligned with the board's corporate decision to retain the forward, viewing him as a fundamental part of the sporting project for the upcoming campaign.
The club's resolve is further strengthened by current injury concerns, specifically regarding forward Alexander Sorloth, which limits the manager's tactical options. Atletico Madrid is focused on preparing for their La Liga opener against Malaga on August 19 and is unwilling to entertain any transfer offers at this stage.
