The root of the resentment lies in comparing specific incidents. The club hierarchy pointed to a penalty awarded to Barcelona involving Lamine Yamal, contrasting it with similar physical challenges on Madrid players that were not penalized.
Mourinho has emphasized the need for a uniform standard, warning that such discrepancies could impact the title race. The Portuguese manager is also pushing for better protection for key stars like Vinicius Jr. from officials.
Ahead of the upcoming away fixture against Elche, the club is dealing with injury concerns. Eder Militao, Rodrygo Goes, and Ferland Mendy are all sidelined, forcing rotation. Dean Huijsen is expected to partner Ibrahima Konate in defense, while Arda Guler is in contention for a starting role.
