Jorge Salinas wants to stay at Racing Santander despite Man Utd and Barcelona interest

The future of 19-year-old Racing Santander defender Jorge Salinas has become a major talking point this summer. Despite mounting interest from major European clubs, the player is reportedly keen to remain with the club following their successful promotion to La Liga.

Manager Jose Alberto has pushed back against exit rumours, stressing that Salinas is fully committed to the team. While the manager acknowledged that every player has a release clause of €16m, he emphasised that neither he nor the player are pushing for a transfer at this stage of the teenager's career.

Manchester United have identified Salinas as a key target as they seek depth behind Luke Shaw, with interest in Newcastle's Lewis Hall reportedly stalling. Meanwhile, Barcelona view the Spaniard as a long-term solution for their left-back vacancy, though their financial situation makes meeting the full release fee more difficult than for their Premier League rivals.

Sporting director Chema Aragon admitted that while the club's goal is to keep their squad intact for their return to the top flight, they remain vulnerable to the financial power of elite clubs. With Salinas under contract until 2029, he remains focused on Racing's pre-season preparations and the upcoming campaign in the Spanish top division.
