Jorge Fossati leads Liverpool to the top of the Clausura
Experienced coach Jorge Fossati has guided Liverpool to the top of the Uruguayan Clausura after consecutive wins over giants Peñarol and Nacional.
Jorge Fossati has made a successful return to Uruguayan football. The experienced 73-year-old coach, following his stint with the Peru national team, has taken charge of Liverpool and immediately made an impact by taking them to the top of the Clausura tournament.
The team has achieved significant results by securing consecutive victories over Uruguayan giants Peñarol and Nacional. Notably, Liverpool managed to keep clean sheets in both high-stakes encounters.
Through 12 matchdays, Liverpool has suffered only one defeat. Their defensive stability stands out, having conceded only eight goals, making them the tightest defense in the competition.
Beyond their league form, the team is also advancing in cup competition. Following a win over Cerro Largo last week, Liverpool remains in a strong position to reach the quarterfinals.
