Jeremia Recoba returns to action after year-long injury layoff

After a year of recovery from a torn knee ligament, Jeremia Recoba made his official return to the pitch for Las Palmas.

Las Palmas midfielder Jeremia Recoba has officially put his lengthy injury nightmare behind him. The Uruguayan, who had been sidelined from competitive football for exactly one year, made his long-awaited return during the club's recent cup match against Alcalá.

Recoba underwent surgery exactly one year ago following a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, sustained during a match against Granada. His road to recovery was testing, but his second-half appearance in the cup tie marked a significant milestone in his career.

"I am happy to be on the pitch again," admitted Jeremia Recoba.

The attacker played limited minutes as part of a pre-planned recovery strategy with the coaching staff. Despite his short time on the pitch, he demonstrated his quality with fluid movement and a precise goal-scoring pass to Jefté, which narrowly missed resulting in a goal.

As a long-term prospect for the club with a contract running until 2028, Recoba's return is a welcome boost for a Las Palmas squad that has been hit hard by injuries early in the season. He is now expected to gradually reintegrate into the team's rotation.
