A new talent is emerging in the youth ranks of Mexican football. Jose Corona, the 16-year-old goalkeeper and son of veteran star Jesus Corona, has officially made his debut for the Tijuana U-21 squad.
The young keeper started in the third round of the youth league during a visit to Atletico San Luis. He marked his debut with a strong performance, securing his first clean sheet as the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
Jose's progression has been rapid. Just last season, he was part of the squad that clinched the U-19 title after a dominant 4-1 aggregate victory over Santos Laguna. His father, Jesus Corona, has been a vocal supporter, publicly expressing his pride in his son's early achievements.
The transition is especially symbolic for the family. In 2025, during the BajaCup tournament in a match against San Diego, the 44-year-old veteran symbolically handed over the baton to his son, who substituted him in a moment that resonated deeply with fans.
Jose Miguel Corona joined the Tijuana youth academy at age 13, just as his father moved to the border club from Cruz Azul. Now 16, he continues to develop within the club, aiming to build his own path while following in his father's footsteps.
