Huracán pursued James Rodríguez before his move to MLS
Argentine club Huracán confirmed they held talks with James Rodríguez in early 2026, but the deal collapsed due to his salary demands.

The Argentine club Huracán has confirmed that they held formal discussions with the camp of James Rodríguez at the beginning of 2026. The Buenos Aires-based club sought to bring the Colombian midfielder into their squad before he ultimately opted for a move to Major League Soccer.
Huracán's technical secretary, Daniel Vega, stated that the club maintained direct communication with the player along with his legal and financial representatives. The club made a push to define the terms of a potential contract, but the parties were unable to reach an agreement.
According to the executive, the negotiations hit a dead end because the financial demands of the former Banfield player exceeded the budget available at Parque Patricios. Following the breakdown in talks, the club turned its attention to Paraguayan midfielder Óscar Romero, who was subsequently signed for the position.
Currently, the 35-year-old Colombian is a free agent following his tenure with Minnesota United and his participation in the 2026 World Cup. Huracán has not yet indicated whether they will revisit interest in the player during the current transfer window.
