Heart of Midlothian have confirmed a change in their goalkeeping department. The club has announced the departure of Alexander Schwolow, who is returning to Germany to join Mainz on 1 August, and the arrival of his replacement, 24-year-old Dutch goalkeeper Beau Reus.
Schwolow, 34, spent one season at Tynecastle, making 33 appearances and keeping 15 clean sheets as the team finished as runners-up in the Scottish Premiership. The club stated that while Schwolow was a highly valued member of the squad, they granted his request to return closer to home.
Beau Reus joins as a free agent on a three-year contract. Standing at 6ft 6in, he spent the last four seasons with Belgian side Beveren, playing a key role in their Challenger Pro League title success last term.
These moves mark a significant transition for new head coach Wouter Vrancken. With veteran Craig Gordon retiring and Liam McFarlane departing on loan, Reus provides necessary depth and competition alongside Ryan Fulton and Zander Clark.
