Fiorentina sack Fabio Grosso after winless Serie A start
Fiorentina have dismissed head coach Fabio Grosso following a disastrous three-game losing streak, despite a €150m summer squad overhaul.

Fiorentina have officially parted ways with head coach Fabio Grosso. The decision comes after a disastrous start to the Serie A season, with the club suffering three consecutive league defeats.
La Viola endured a heavy 4-0 opening-day loss to AS Roma, followed by a 3-0 home defeat against Frosinone and a 2-1 reverse against Torino. With nine goals conceded in just three fixtures, a 4-1 Coppa Italia victory over Benevento proved insufficient to save the manager's job.
The move follows an aggressive transfer window where the club invested €150 million to reshape the squad. Major signings included Beto, Christ Oulai, Arthur Atta, Mateo Pellegrino, Giovanni Fabbian, Marco Brescianini, and Victor Valdepenas, alongside several loan arrivals. Despite the heavy investment, performances failed to meet the board's expectations.
Transfer expert Matteo Moretto reports that former coach Paolo Vanoli is currently the frontrunner to return to the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
The hierarchy is now working to appoint a replacement before the side's trip to Venezia on Friday, September 11. Following that league fixture, they host Pisa in the Coppa Italia and title contenders Napoli on Sunday, September 20.
