Darwin Nunez is reportedly on the verge of a surprise move to MLS. The 27-year-old Uruguay international is expected to depart Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal after spending just one season at the club.
Atlanta United have emerged as a serious suitor for the forward. Both parties have entered initial talks, though an advanced deal is yet to be reached. The American club is actively exploring the possibility of bringing in the former Liverpool striker.
The potential move is tied to the future of Atlanta's current record signing, Emmanuel Latte Lath, who is nearing an exit. His departure would open a designated player spot, which the club is keen to fill. As a result, the forward was held out of the squad for a recent match.
Nunez fell out of favor at Al-Hilal following the arrival of Karim Benzema. The striker managed six goals and four assists in 16 competitive appearances last season.
