Flamengo has officially announced the contract extension of central defender Danilo, keeping him at the club until December 2027. The deal was finalized at the team's training facility in the presence of sporting director Jose Boto.

Since joining the club in February 2025, Danilo has made 57 appearances, contributing six goals and two assists. A highlight of his tenure was scoring the decisive winning goal in the 2025 Copa Libertadores final against Palmeiras.

Reports suggest that this deal will mark the final stage of the 35-year-old's professional career. While Flamengo's leadership has expressed a desire to keep the player within the club's structure after he retires, no specific role has been determined yet.

Currently, Danilo is sidelined as he recovers from surgery for jaw fractures sustained during a match against Fluminense. There is no official timeline for his return to the pitch.
