Cape Verde hero Vozinha offered to Ceara, but move rejected
After his standout World Cup performance, Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha was offered to Brazilian side Ceara, but the club declined the opportunity.
Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, who gained widespread attention following his heroics against Spain, will not be joining Brazilian club Ceara. Despite his stellar seven-save performance in the opening match, the second-tier Brazilian side has decided against pursuing the veteran goalkeeper.
Representatives for the 40-year-old, who played for GD Chaves in Portugal last season, reached out to the club to explore a potential move. However, Ceara’s management, currently working under new head coach Daniel Paulista, opted not to enter official negotiations. The club believes its current goalkeeping department is sufficient as they look to climb the Serie B table.
For now, Vozinha remains focused on his international duties. Following impressive draws against Spain and Uruguay, Cape Verde is on the verge of a historic knockout stage berth. They must defeat Saudi Arabia in their final group match to secure qualification for the round of 32.
