Cape Verde national team manager Pedro Leitao, widely known as Boavista, is closing in on an appointment as the head coach of Moroccan club Renaissance Berkane.
According to reports from Radio Mars, the two parties are in the final stages of negotiations, with an agreement on contract terms near completion. Only minor administrative details remain to be finalized before his appointment is confirmed.
The managerial position at the Moroccan side became vacant following the departure of Tunisian coach Mouine Chaabani, who left the club to lead the Tunisia national team.
Renaissance Berkane are preparing for a campaign in the CAF Champions League after finishing as runners-up in the Moroccan Pro League last season, trailing only champions Maghreb Fez.
Boavista earned recognition for his work with Cape Verde during the 2026 World Cup, where he guided the team to the round of 32 before they were narrowly eliminated by Argentina.
