English side Burnley faces a complex situation ahead of the new season, forced to urgently replace their main sponsor. On Friday, club officials officially terminated their contract with the trading ecosystem Finotive One, just 42 days after the deal was signed.

While official reasons for the termination remain undisclosed, the club stated the decision was made to protect the interests of the club and its fans. This sudden move will result in significant financial and reputational costs. Burnley has already offered full refunds or exchanges to supporters who purchased 2026-27 kits featuring the Finotive One logo.

Marketing efforts involving high-profile figures like JJ Watt and Arnold Schwarzenegger have been rendered obsolete, with all traces of the former sponsor removed from club platforms. For Sunday's opening match against West Ham, the shirts will carry the logo of Vertu Motors, a British dealership group and existing partner that agreed to step in at short notice.

This marks another chapter in Burnley's turbulent history with shirt sponsors since the AIK Capital takeover in December 2020. Most previous partners during this era were linked to the gambling industry, keeping the club's commercial partnerships under constant scrutiny.
