Barcelona report PSG to UEFA over provocative fan tifo
Barcelona have reported PSG to UEFA, claiming a tifo displayed by French fans ahead of their Champions League match incites violence.
Barcelona have reported Paris Saint-Germain to UEFA following the display of a controversial tifo during Tuesday's Champions League fixture. The Spanish club argues the banner displayed at the Parc des Princes incites violence and hatred in sport.
Ahead of kick-off, home supporters unveiled a display featuring a masked figure using a chainsaw to destroy the Barcelona crest. The banner was accompanied by the French caption "massacre, Parisian style." Barcelona stated that the imagery was "deeply disturbing" and fundamentally contradicts the values of respect and sportsmanship.
Under Article 16 of UEFA's disciplinary regulations, the use of gestures, words, or objects to transmit provocative messages inappropriate for a sports event can lead to disciplinary action. This includes a potential fine of 10,000 euros for a first offence.
