Athletico Paranaense signs Uruguayan prospect Nicolas Azambuja
The Brazilian club has signed 18-year-old Uruguayan forward Nicolas Azambuja from Danubio for R$ 5 million on a four-year deal.

Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense has officially announced the signing of 18-year-old Uruguayan forward Nicolas Azambuja. The young talent, who previously played for Danubio, has signed a four-year contract with the club.
To secure the move, the club invested 1 million dollars (approximately R$ 5 million) to acquire 70% of the player's economic rights. The agreement also includes clauses allowing the club to purchase an additional 20% of the rights in the future.
Despite his young age, Azambuja brings professional experience, having debuted for Danubio's first team at 16. His performances in the Uruguayan league and youth national teams earned him a call-up to the senior Uruguay squad under Marcelo Bielsa in 2025.
Initially, Azambuja will join the U-20 squad to compete in the Copa Parana. This period will serve as an adaptation phase, allowing the first-team coaching staff, led by Odair Hellmann, to monitor his progress closely before considering a transition to the senior professional roster.
