Athletic Bilbao were unable to secure their third consecutive league victory, finishing with a 1-1 draw against Elche at San Mames. Despite a dominant start and creating several chances, the hosts were unable to break through the visitors' defense before halftime.
The second half began with a surprise when Facundo Buonanotte put Elche ahead in the 50th minute. The goal forced Athletic to increase their offensive pressure as they looked for an equalizer.
