Arsenal approach PSG defender Emmanuel Mbemba
Arsenal have made an approach to sign teenage Paris St-Germain defender Emmanuel Mbemba on a free transfer this summer.
Arsenal have initiated contact to sign 18-year-old PSG defender Emmanuel Mbemba on a free transfer this summer. The player, who has been offered a new deal by the French side, is open to a move to a top Premier League club as his current contract expires at the end of June.
Training compensation for the teenager is expected to be just over £150,000. Mbemba is said to favour a move to the Gunners, citing the stability and success established under manager Mikel Arteta.
During early discussions, Arsenal highlighted the development pathway taken by William Saliba during his loan spells. As part of the proposed plan, Mbemba would spend time on a European loan until January 2027 to facilitate the process of obtaining a work permit for England.
Although primarily deployed as a centre-back in PSG's youth ranks, Arsenal scouts view him as a long-term option at left-back. Mbemba recently captained PSG's under-19 side to success in the French Youth Cup at the Stade de France.
