Hearts fans have plenty to be positive about following their 6-2 victory over Inverness Caledonian Thistle. While new signings impressed, one of the most notable displays came from 19-year-old striker James Wilson, who has returned to the club following a loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur.
Wilson, who became Scotland's youngest ever player in 2025, spent the first half of last season in London. Although he did not make a first-team appearance for Spurs, he insists the experience of training alongside world-class players and being part of a top-six Premier League environment has made him a better, more prepared professional.
Hearts manager Wouter Vrancken has praised the teenager's tactical intelligence. Despite not being the most physical striker in the squad, Vrancken noted that Wilson understands the team's requirements and is capable of reading the game effectively. After netting his first goal in over a year, Wilson credited his intense off-pitch training for his current physical readiness.
The competition for places at Hearts remains fierce. With main striker Claudio Braga heavily linked with a move away, Wilson is now competing with Amadou Ba-Sy and Pierre Landry Kabore for minutes.
