Jamie Vardy could be set for a surprising return to English football. Championship side West Ham United have emerged as a serious contender to sign the 39-year-old striker as they look to strengthen their squad following relegation from the Premier League.
Manager Nuno Espirito Santo is eager to add a proven goalscorer to his ranks before the transfer window closes. Despite having forwards such as Pablo, Taty Castellanos, and club captain Jarrod Bowen on the roster, the club is reportedly monitoring Vardy’s situation.
Prior to the interest from the London Stadium, Vardy had been linked with a return to his boyhood club, Sheffield Wednesday. However, the striker directly addressed those rumors on his podcast, stating that he considers that chapter of his career closed.
Vardy spent last season with Italian side Cremonese, scoring seven goals in 29 appearances before the club was relegated. Now a free agent, the veteran forward has made it clear that he is not ready to retire and remains determined to continue his professional career. Although he was recently seen at Leicester City’s training ground, it was confirmed that he is not returning to the Foxes.
