Tottenham close to signing Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi

Tottenham are nearing the completion of a deal to sign Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi on a free transfer. While personal terms are yet to be finalized, negotiations for the 29-year-old are moving towards a conclusion, as is the club's pursuit of Scotland full-back Andy Robertson, who is a free agent after leaving Liverpool.

Bournemouth ceased efforts to keep the Argentine defender after he turned down a third contract offer last December, prompting him to open discussions with other clubs. Despite overseas interest, the three-cap Argentina international now appears set to remain in the Premier League.

Senesi was a regular fixture for Bournemouth this season, missing only one league game as the club secured a historic sixth-place finish and European football. Since arriving from Dutch side Feyenoord in 2022, he has made 128 appearances for the south coast side.

For Tottenham, this move is part of a necessary squad overhaul following a 17th-place finish. Head coach Roberto de Zerbi, who arrived in March to steer the team away from relegation, has been tasked with bringing in experience and physical robustness. Chief executive Vinai Venkatesham recently stressed that the squad lacks balance and that the upcoming transfer window is critical for the club's development.
