Former PSG and Ivory Coast national team defender Serge Aurier is nearing a surprise career move. According to FootMercato, the 33-year-old is close to joining amateur side FC Montagny-en-Goëlle, who compete in Regional 2 — the seventh tier of French football.
Aurier, who has been a free agent since leaving Iranian club Persepolis in August 2025, is currently finalizing the last details of the deal. While he plans to continue playing at the amateur level, he has already embarked on a coaching path.
In August, he was appointed as an assistant coach for the U-15 squad at Lens, the club where he originally developed as a youth player. This dual role allows the veteran to remain active on the pitch while gaining valuable experience in the coaching staff.
Aurier boasts an extensive professional resume, having played over 400 top-flight matches during his career. His journey has taken him through clubs including Tottenham, Villarreal, Galatasaray, and Nottingham Forest.
