Scotland international goalkeeper Angus Gunn has joined San Jose Earthquakes. The 30-year-old moved to the MLS club as a free agent following his release from Nottingham Forest, signing a contract that runs through the 2030 season.
Gunn, who has earned 25 caps for his country, recently featured in all three of Scotland's group-stage matches at the World Cup. He expressed his enthusiasm for joining Bruce Arena's squad, which is currently competing at the top of the Western Conference standings.
It feels incredible to join the Earthquakes. Coming off the World Cup, which was an unbelievable experience, I'm just really excited and grateful for the opportunity to come to San Jose and show the best version of myself. Angus Gunn
Head coach Bruce Arena highlighted the value of adding a goalkeeper with Premier League and World Cup experience to the roster. Gunn will compete for the starting role alongside current goalkeepers Daniel and Earl William Edwards Jr.
San Jose currently sits second in the Western Conference and third in the overall MLS table. The team is scheduled to return to league action on July 22 against Orlando City.
