The sentiment is echoed on Merseyside by former Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique. The Spaniard, who was part of the 2013-14 team that finished two points behind City, shared an edited image of himself polishing the Premier League trophy. He called on authorities to act, stating: 'Is already here!!! Thank you premier league and send me the medal soon too.'

While pressure from former players and rival supporters grows, the Premier League has yet to announce any formal sanctions.
