Following the tense 2026 World Cup semi-final, where England fell 1-2 to Argentina, a physical confrontation nearly erupted between Jude Bellingham and Valentin Barco. Despite England taking the lead through Anthony Gordon, late goals from Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez secured Argentina's place in the final.
According to The Touchline, the Real Madrid midfielder was incensed by the Argentine defender's persistent provocations. Although Barco spent the entire match on the substitutes' bench, he reportedly spent the game taunting the English side. When Enzo Fernandez equalized in the 85th minute, Barco bypassed his teammates to mock Thomas Tuchel’s coaching staff and the English substitutes.
Immediately after the final whistle, as Argentina celebrated reaching the final, Bellingham approached Barco and tapped his head, an action that nearly sparked a mass brawl between both squads.
