McInnes has been candid about his squad's shortcomings, stating that despite the addition of nine new players this summer, they remain unprepared for the demands of European competition. He admitted that the home crowd's frustration was justified, citing an inability to maintain a high level of performance for the full 90 minutes.
Tactical changes during the Jagiellonia tie backfired, as shifting from a back three to a back four resulted in a loss of control in midfield. Former player Andy Halliday noted that the squad appears unbalanced, lacking both the leadership and character required to handle the scrutiny that comes with playing for the club.
