Netherlands media dismisses rumors of Tsygankov joining Ajax
Dutch journalist Mike Verweij has stated that a move for Viktor Tsygankov to Ajax is unlikely due to the player's high market valuation.
Speculation linking Girona winger Viktor Tsygankov to a move to Ajax has been addressed by Dutch journalist Mike Verweij. In the latest episode of the Kick-off podcast, Verweij clarified that a deal for the Ukrainian international is currently not on the cards for the Amsterdam club.
The primary concern cited is the financial aspect. Despite Girona's relegation from La Liga, the journalist indicated that the transfer fee remains too high for Ajax to justify. Furthermore, Ajax sporting director Jordi Cruyff is reportedly not prioritizing the recruitment of a new right winger at this stage.
Tsygankov made 34 appearances for Girona during the 2025/26 season, recording seven goals and five assists. He remains under contract with the Spanish side until the summer of 2027, with his current market value estimated at 15 million euros.
