Monchi praises Navarro's work at Sevilla
Espanyol sporting director Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo, known as Monchi, voiced his support for José Ignacio Navarro and shared his plans for his current club.
Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo, known as Monchi, shared his thoughts on the current situation at his former club during a visit to Seville. While in Andalusia for the Reyes Cup, a tournament honoring the late José Antonio Reyes, the Espanyol sporting director praised the work of Sevilla's current sporting director, José Ignacio Navarro, with whom he previously worked.
Monchi stated: "I have known him for many years, and I am happy for him. Hardworking people deserve for things to go well for them. I am happy for Sevilla because the club has found a good rhythm of play and results."
Regarding his own work at Espanyol, Monchi admitted that financial limitations dictate planning. He noted that the club's primary goal at this stage is to consolidate the project and seek stability. "We must try to be efficient and get the most out of the resources. We hope that, little by little, we will succeed, to then be able to look upwards," he added.
The director also emphasized that he feels comfortable in his new role. He noted the warm welcome he received in Barcelona and his satisfaction with the conditions, which allow him to balance his work with personal objectives, although he admitted a desire to have earned more points in the standings at this stage of the season.
