Miguel Herrera has voiced clear support for the new cycle of the Mexican national team under the leadership of Rafa Márquez. The Atlante manager believes the former defender deserves the opportunity to develop a solid project and expressed hope that the Mexican Football Federation will maintain continuity for the coach through the 2030 World Cup.
Contento con Rafa, es un tipo que se merece ese lugar. Ojalá y le den todas las oportunidades y lo mantengan en el puesto, porque no es cuando llegas sino cuando te vas. Ojalá se vaya después del 2030. Miguel Herrera
Regarding club affairs, Herrera acknowledged that the return to Liga MX will be a challenging tournament. The board aims to build a competitive squad to place the Potros among the top sides in Mexican football. Herrera confirmed that the roster is not yet closed, with the club working on five new signings across various positions, including a goalkeeper, a central defender, a defensive midfielder, an offensive player, and a striker.
Additionally, Emilio Escalante Jr., vice president of Atlante, addressed rumors suggesting Cruz Azul might leave Estadio Banorte, which the club currently shares with Atlante and Club América. Escalante expressed surprise at the news, emphasizing that the stadium is their home and hoping a resolution can be reached for Cruz Azul to remain.
