Celtic have confirmed their full support for manager Martin O'Neill following a "painful" week for the club. Chief executive Michael Nicholson stated that the club would "come together and support" the 74-year-old, who has secured nine trophies across his two spells at the club.
The backing comes after a challenging period that saw Celtic suffer two defeats to rivals Rangers alongside a home loss to Ferencvaros in the Europa League. In the immediate aftermath of Sunday’s derby defeat, O'Neill had suggested that "it might be time to wrap it up," casting doubt on his future.
Nicholson’s comments were made alongside the release of financial figures showing a £33m drop in revenue. The club reported a £4.8m loss, largely attributed to failing to reach the Champions League after squandering a 4-0 aggregate lead against LASK in last month's play-off.
