Manchester United have shifted their transfer priorities for midfield reinforcements following difficulties with the signing of Atalanta midfielder Ederson. According to ESPN, although the Brazilian had previously agreed on personal terms, the deal was delayed due to a surprise international call-up, preventing the completion of medical examinations.
Following a review of the situation, the club has decided to explore other options. The primary alternatives being considered are Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Gomes, whose proposed move to Atletico Madrid fell through, and AS Roma's Manu Kone.
The club has already strengthened their midfield this window by securing the transfer of Andrey Santos from Chelsea. The original deal for Ederson was expected to be worth approximately 40 million euros.
Despite reports that the club is moving on, Manchester United have officially denied that they have completely abandoned the pursuit of the Brazilian midfielder.
