Manchester City accelerate contract renewals to avoid Rodri-style exit

Manchester City have adjusted their recruitment and retention strategy after coming close to losing one of their most influential players. The club has initiated a wide-reaching campaign to extend the contracts of their leading stars, fueled by a desire to avoid a repeat of the difficult situation surrounding Rodri.
The Spanish midfielder, with only one season remaining on his contract, rejected extension offers and positioned himself for a move to Real Madrid. This saga has alerted City’s management to the danger of letting contracts run down, as it grants players excessive bargaining power and weakens the club’s position against Europe’s elite clubs.
The club has acted quickly to solidify their future. They recently announced a two-year extension for defender Abdukodir Khusanov, keeping him at the club until 2031, following a new deal for England star Phil Foden, a fundamental pillar of the team's ongoing project.
The club is not stopping there. Reports suggest that management is currently working to finalize renewals for Jeremy Doku and Josko Gvardiol. Through this comprehensive plan, Manchester City aim to slam the door on outside interest and ensure their core talent remains at the club for the long term.
