Mallorca goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar hospitalised after ceiling collapse at training ground
Mallorca veteran goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar was hospitalised with a head injury following a ceiling collapse in the canteen at the club's training ground.

Mallorca goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar has been hospitalised following a freak accident at the Son Bibiloni training ground. The 42-year-old sustained a head injury after a decorative ceiling structure collapsed in the facility's dining room.
The club confirmed the incident in an official statement, noting: "This morning, Ivan 'Pichu' Cuellar suffered a serious head injury after a large structure, which formed part of the decor in the dining room at the Ciutat Esportiva collapsed." The veteran shot-stopper is currently undergoing a 24-hour observation period to rule out further medical complications.
This setback creates an immediate selection headache for manager Luis Garcia ahead of Sunday's Segunda Division match against Girona. With backup goalkeeper Lucas Bergstrom currently away on international duty with Finland, Arnau Tenas remains the only fit senior keeper available for selection.
While Cuellar has made limited appearances this season, his presence as an experienced cover option is significant for the squad's depth. Coaching staff are now weighing whether to promote an academy goalkeeper to the bench while awaiting updates on Cuellar's recovery.
