Luis Enrique reflected on PSG's 2-1 loss to Monaco, citing bad luck and missed chances, just hours after signing a contract extension until 2030.

It was a bittersweet evening for PSG. Before kick-off, the club officially confirmed that Luis Enrique had agreed to a contract extension keeping him at the club until 2030. However, the celebratory atmosphere quickly soured as Paris suffered a frustrating 2-1 defeat to a resilient Monaco side.
The match was statistically one-sided, with Paris registering 23 shots compared to Monaco’s four. Despite this dominance, the visitors were clinical, scoring with both of their shots on target. Monaco goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky delivered an inspired performance, earning man-of-the-match honors with a series of crucial saves that thwarted the Parisian attack.
"Football is sometimes inexplicable, and you have to accept it. If you’re unlucky, you draw. Every year, I’ve had matches like that; tonight was one of them," said Luis Enrique.
The result leaves the reigning champions without a win after three rounds of Ligue 1 action—a historically slow start for the club. Despite the outcome, Enrique emphasized his satisfaction with his team's mentality and performance, insisting that the lack of conversion was simply a matter of misfortune.
The pressure is now building as the club turns its attention to its upcoming European campaign. PSG is set to begin its Champions League defense next Wednesday against Slovan Bratislava, where they will need to translate their statistical dominance into a concrete victory.
