Kompany targets treble with Bayern Munich but warns of challenge

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has made it clear that the club's primary objective for the coming season is to secure the Champions League trophy. Speaking ahead of his side's pre-season friendly against Aston Villa in Hong Kong tomorrow, Friday, the Belgian tactician acknowledged the pressure of managing the German giants while urging his squad to remain focused on the task at hand.
Since taking the helm in 2024, Kompany has led the team to sustained domestic success, but he remains grounded about the difficulty of elevating the club's performance further. He noted that success is measured by more than just silverware, as the team already maintains elite standards in scoring and win rates. «It is difficult to get better - it's not just about the trophies we've won, but also about the number of goals and the games we've won. That is possible, but difficult,» Kompany stated.

To facilitate a challenge for the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal, and European honors, Kompany stressed the necessity of a healthy and deep roster. Bayern Munich have been active in the market, investing approximately €100 million to bring in Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari, adding to a core that includes stars like Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Diaz.
The team's first major barometer will be the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Borussia Dortmund on August 22. This precedes the official start of their title defense in the Bundesliga, which begins on August 28 against VfB Stuttgart.
