Julian Alvarez has once again found himself in the spotlight after failing to attend training with Atletico Madrid this Wednesday. While the club officially stated that the 26-year-old Argentine felt unwell, his absence comes amid growing tension surrounding his future at the club.
The player has been vocal about his desire to leave for several weeks, having publicly expressed his intentions during the 2026 World Cup. The situation reached a boiling point during Sunday's 2-2 draw against Villarreal in La Liga, where Alvarez was booed and insulted by the Metropolitano faithful, a hostile reception similar to what he experienced during the recent game against Malaga.
Alvarez is keen on a move to Barcelona, but Atletico management remains firmly opposed to a transfer to their domestic rivals. The club is only willing to consider offers from the Premier League, with Arsenal mentioned as a potential destination, provided that the interested party meets the club's 150 million euro valuation.
