Jose Mourinho is reportedly close to leaving his position as Benfica head coach at the conclusion of the current season. According to reports, the Portuguese manager has already made a definitive decision regarding his future.
The situation stems from deteriorating relations between the coach and the club's management. Tensions escalated after Mourinho publicly disclosed that he had received a contract extension offer, stating he would not entertain negotiations until the final match of the season.
Mourinho reportedly feels that the Benfica board delayed contract talks for too long and only took action after news surfaced regarding interest from Real Madrid.
The coach remains firm in his decision to leave regardless of whether he takes the job in Madrid. Even in the event of an unexpected defeat for Florentino Perez in the Real Madrid presidential elections—a scenario considered unlikely—Mourinho is not expected to remain in Lisbon.
