Jose Mourinho convinced Vinicius Jr to stay at Real Madrid
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho reveals how he successfully persuaded Vinicius Jr to commit his future to the club.

Jose Mourinho has confirmed he played a vital role in persuading Vinicius Jr to remain at Real Madrid. The Brazilian winger was in the final year of his contract, attracting interest from Arsenal and other top clubs, before ultimately signing a new six-year deal.
Speaking on the Spanish TV show El Chiringuito, Mourinho detailed his conversation with the forward:
Vinicius has fallen in love with Real Madrid. The only thing I told him was: 'Vini, where do you want to go? You've only been in Brazil and you only know Real Madrid. You only understand Real Madrid when you leave. When you leave that's when you realise what Real Madrid is. Don't leave. It's not worth it.' Jose Mourinho
The manager emphasized that the player's development within the current squad was a decisive factor. Mourinho's influence helped secure the future of one of the world's most sought-after wingers as the club looks to rebuild after two seasons without major trophies.
Mourinho also addressed the failed pursuit of Rodri, who joined Barcelona for £65m. According to the coach, the club withdrew their interest when the midfielder expressed hesitation.
