In their final pre-season friendly, Real Madrid secured a dominant 3-0 victory over Schalke in Gelsenkirchen. The match served as the concluding test for Jose Mourinho's squad ahead of the 2026-27 La Liga season.

The highlight for Ukrainian supporters occurred in the 87th minute, when 19-year-old goalkeeper Ilya Voloshin made his senior debut for the club. In a symbolic moment, he replaced fellow countryman Andriy Lunin, who had entered the pitch at halftime. The youngster, noted for his 202 cm frame, remained composed during his time on the field to help keep a clean sheet.

Real Madrid's goals came from Kylian Mbappe, Dean Huijsen, and Carlos Espi. Alongside Voloshin, Marc Cucurella and Ian Diomande also made their first appearances for the Spanish side during the second half.

Voloshin's opportunity comes after two years of development within the Spanish football system. Since signing for Madrid in early 2024, the former Dnipro youth player has been adapting to the club's structure, eventually earning his first minutes for the senior team following a successful pre-season period.
