Hull City seal record-breaking deal for Nobel Mendy

Hull City have confirmed the arrival of defender Nobel Mendy from La Liga side Rayo Vallecano. The 21-year-old centre-back has committed to a five-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year.

While the club did not disclose the transfer fee, they confirmed it surpasses the deal for goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, signed earlier this month for over £20m. This move marks the second time in a month that the Tigers have reset their record transfer fee.

Mendy began his career at Paris FC before moving to Spain. He made 28 appearances during his tenure with Rayo Vallecano, scoring two goals. His final match for the Spanish side was the Conference League final against Crystal Palace.

The scale of this investment highlights Hull City's aggressive approach to squad building, significantly eclipsing the previous transfer record of £13m paid for Ryan Mason back in 2016.
