The Houston Dynamo have agreed to a deal to acquire American forward Duncan McGuire from Orlando City, sources have confirmed. Orlando will receive $1.25 million in general allocation money plus $1.15 million in performance-based add-ons, with a sell-on clause included in the agreement.
McGuire, 25, has scored 23 goals in 2,994 minutes since being drafted in 2023, though recent injury issues have slowed his progress. He was held out of Orlando’s midweek friendly against the Tampa Bay Rowdies as the final details of the transfer were ironed out.
For the Dynamo, the move addresses a long-standing need for a consistent goal-scoring center forward. With the club currently sitting seventh in the Eastern Conference and having scored only 19 goals in 14 matches, McGuire is expected to provide a spark alongside attackers like Mateusz Bogusz and Guilherme. Meanwhile, club-record signing Ezequiel Ponce has struggled to find form, leading to reports of interest from South American clubs.
Orlando City moves forward with a revamped attack headlined by French star Antoine Griezmann. Griezmann, who recently scored in an exhibition match, joins a deep attacking roster that features Martin Ojeda and Marco Pasalic as the club looks to climb from 12th place in the East.
