Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has voiced significant concerns regarding the team's goalkeeping situation. He has urged new manager Xabi Alonso to prioritize signing a replacement for Robert Sanchez, whose credentials remain in doubt following a series of errors.

While Leboeuf praised the club's recent activity in the transfer market, specifically the arrival of experienced figures like Jordan Henderson and Danny Welbeck to guide the younger players, his primary tactical worry lies between the posts. Speaking to ESPN, Leboeuf stated: "I still have a question mark over the goalkeeper. Sanchez can be very good on the line, but with his feet, he’s always creating issues and scares the fans when he has the ball at his feet."

Beyond the goalkeeping dilemma, Leboeuf warned Alonso that he must swiftly trim Chelsea's bloated squad to maintain dressing-room harmony. With the club currently managing a group of around 45 players, Leboeuf believes that Alonso needs to move on at least 15 players to ensure he can work effectively on a daily basis.

Despite the squad overhaul, Leboeuf maintains that a top-five finish to secure a return to the Champions League should be the goal for the upcoming campaign. Chelsea is currently on a pre-season tour in South East Asia, with their Premier League campaign set to kick off against Fulham on August 24.
