Former Napoli and RB Leipzig midfielder Diego Demme announces retirement
34-year-old midfielder Diego Demme has decided to end his professional career after becoming a free agent this summer.

German defensive midfielder Diego Demme has officially announced his retirement from professional football. The 34-year-old took the decision after leaving Hertha Berlin this summer and failing to secure a new club before the end of the transfer window.
Over the course of his career, Demme played for clubs including Arminia Bielefeld, Paderborn, and RB Leipzig. His most successful spell came at Italian side Napoli, where he won the Coppa Italia in 2019/20 and the Serie A title in 2022/23.
