Flamengo has refused to accept their elimination from the Copa Libertadores following a defeat to Estudiantes at the Maracanã. The Brazilian side has officially lodged a complaint with CONMEBOL, arguing that the participation of Marcos Rojo in the semifinal match violated the organization's regulations.

The controversy centers on the eligibility of the Argentine defender. While CONMEBOL had initially denied his registration, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled in favor of Estudiantes, allowing the player to feature in the second leg. Flamengo claims that his inclusion still contravenes the rules governing the South American tournament.

Estudiantes has been notified of the complaint and has until next week to submit their defense to CONMEBOL. Sources close to the Argentine club expressed confidence, stating that the player's inclusion was legally backed by the CAS ruling and that he was registered on the official team sheet before the match.

The tie ended in a penalty shootout victory for Estudiantes after two goalless draws. Despite having a man advantage for much of the second half following the expulsion of Baltasar Rodríguez, Flamengo failed to secure the win on the pitch and is now seeking to overturn the result through administrative channels.
