FIFA orders Zamalek to pay $550,000 to avoid registration ban

Zamalek are facing a fresh legal challenge after FIFA's Players' Status Chamber issued a ruling regarding outstanding financial dues owed to their former player, Abdelhamid Maali.
The club has been ordered to pay approximately $550,000 to the Moroccan player, who previously terminated his contract unilaterally before lodging a formal complaint with the global governing body. Maali is currently back with his parent club, Ittihad Tanger.
FIFA has granted the Egyptian side a 45-day window from the date of notification to settle the debt. Failure to comply with this deadline will trigger sporting sanctions, specifically a ban on registering new players for two consecutive transfer windows.
This case adds to a growing list of financial disputes involving the club. The potential for a registration ban poses a significant risk to Zamalek's squad planning and future recruitment efforts if the payment is not processed in time.
